Here’s a fun little piece of Sean Dwyer history that I thought I would share with the world wide web. A few years back I used to work for a local computer company called McDonald Systems. It was a pretty small operation and eventually went out of business, but I worked with some good people and we had a lot of laughs at the time.
Perhaps the biggest laugh of all may have come the day I heard this radio jingle that they actually paid to have produced. It was just such a stereotypically perfect radio jingle that it sounded to me almost like a parody. Maybe it’s only funny if you worked there at the time, but to this day I still laugh when I hear it.
I have been slowly developing a book loosely based on my time at McDSys and the people I worked with there. I am aspiring to make it something funny in the vein of Douglas Coupland’s Microserfs… but maybe I’m being a little presumptuous there.
The picture above shows me posing with “The Gooch” and “Tinman” in front of our favourite inspirational Microsoft poster. How Does It Feel To Save The Day Every Day? It feels damn good. Judging by the image quality, I think the photo may have been taken on the very first digital camera ever invented.

Oh my god. That song was fucking hilarious. I honestly laughed my ass off.
The thing that gets me is how damn catchy it is, and yet how terribly uncool the lyrics are.
To think I’d never heard that song until stumbling across this site. I think that I just found a new startup sound for Windows.
Hey Rob, glad I could share the classic McDSys jingle with you. You of all people deserve to hear it. How did you ever manage to stumble across my site on this so-called “world wide web” anyway??
I was just searching for regional Web sites. You must have a reference to St Catharines or Niagara that showed up in Google.
By the way, Mike McD says that he’s waiting for your book. Let me know when you have a pilot chapter.
Well hello Sean. I was talking Mike and he told I needed check out your site. This is awesome. I’m glad that we had such a positive (Funny) impression on your life. It was a time, we worked with good people and we did have some fun. You guys were a great team. BTW that book, I would to edit it before you publish anything ok. lol It does however sound like it would be an interesting read though. I saw the article in the paper with a picture you, it sounds like you have been very busy with all kinds of hobbies.
I could go on but then this would a very long message, too long. Say hello to the others for me.
Dar
Pardon the bad typing eh.
Hey there Darlene, Mike, Rob, and others. It’s awesome that this little post somehow managed to cross your radars… the internet is a pretty small place after all!
I will keep you in the loop as far as the book goes (and will probably post more stuff on this site from time to time). I really only have a rough outline right now and haven’t had a chance to sit down and start writing it. The idea is to mix in a lot of fictional elements to make it more exagerrated and exciting (and of course, I will be changing the names of all involved) so it wouldn’t be a direct personal account. But I think it will just be my perspective on working in an office environment, and how a lot of times it’s the people you work with that get you through the day.
